Would a new Quick Quack Car Wash affect traffic? Folsom planners to decide
Quick Quack Car Wash plans to build a new location in Folsom on a 1.5-acre site on Folsom-Auburn Road, potentially bringing another business to the corridor near Coffee Republic and McDonald’s.
The Rocklin-based chain of automated car washes looks to build on the 6700 block of Folsom-Auburn Road, combining two lots across the street from McDonald’s, according to a staff memo prepared for the Folsom Planning Commission, which was scheduled to consider the proposal Wednesday.
The properties at 6701 and 6711 Folsom-Auburn Road would feature a 3,588-square-foot car wash building measuring 29 feet tall, according to the memo. There would also be a drive-through queue capable of accommodating 18 vehicles.
If approved, the facility would operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily with up to three staff members on site, depending on demand.
The staff memo said water would be reclaimed, filtered and reused. About 25 to 30 gallons of water would be used per vehicle.
“Soaps are all water-soluble and biodegradable,” the staff report states. “All hydraulic pumps and blowers are contained inside closed equipment rooms within the building.”
The proposed development could affect traffic flow, according to the staff report, with an estimated 450 daily trips. To improve traffic flow on Folsom-Auburn Road, city staff requested that the company have customers enter from Vance Lane instead.
“The project also proposes to construct a ‘pork chop’ median curb at the project driveway to discourage left turns in and out of Vance Lane,” the staff report states.
A public hearing on the project was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 50 Natoma St. Quick Quack Car Wash also operates Folsom locations at 1750 Cavitt Drive and 1300 Prairie City Road.
Quick Quack Car Wash was founded in 2004 and now operates more than 340 locations, including more than two dozen in the capital region, and has expanded into Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Washington.
