Rancho Cordova City Council cancels its meeting this week. Here’s why

Rancho Cordova news

The Rancho Cordova City Council’s regular meeting was canceled this week while members traveled to Washington, D.C., for a lobbying trip.

City Council members are attending Capitol-to-Capitol, or Cap-to-Cap, the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce’s annual advocacy program, according to city spokesperson Maria Kniestedt.

The program takes place in Washington through Wednesday and “secures funding and resources for high-priority projects in the California Capitol region and provides our members a voice at the national level,” according to the chamber’s website.

“Over several days of targeted meetings with federal agencies and lawmakers, the delegation works to advance the region’s priorities and secure support for projects that strengthen our economy and communities,” the program’s website reads.

Issue areas include business, civic amenities, community resources, education and employment, energy and innovation, flood protection, food and agriculture, healthcare, land use and natural resources, public safety, transportation, water resources and wildfire and forest health.

The City Council typically meets in regular session on the first and third Monday of every month, moving to Tuesdays if a meeting falls on a Monday holiday. The meeting was canceled when the proposed meeting schedule was approved in November, Kniestedt said.

The City Council’s next meeting is a special meeting taking place on April 28, followed by a regular City Council meeting on May 4.
