Rocklin youth football president suspended for ‘detrimental’ conduct, board says

The president of the Rocklin Junior Thunder youth football organization has been suspended and is under investigation, the board of directors announced this week.

Rocklin Junior Thunder held an emergency meeting Sunday in which board members decided to suspend President Melissa Roberts indefinitely ”for conduct detrimental to the interest of the organization,” according to an email sent to parents this week by the board of directors.

The notice to parents says board members at the meeting discussed alleged violations by Roberts that are currently under investigation. The nature of those allegations was not immediately clear. Roberts was Rocklin Junior Thunder’s treasurer in 2015 before becoming president, an online organizational chart shows.

Board members with Rocklin Junior Thunder did not immediately respond to The Bee’s requests for comment Wednesday. Roberts could not be reached for comment.

A former president of Rocklin Junior Thunder, Stephanie Ann Abercrombie, was arrested January 2014 by Rocklin police for allegedly embezzling $20,000 in funds that were entrusted to her by the organization. Abercrombie was convicted in 2016 of felony grand theft under false pretenses and sentenced to 10 months probation in addition to 14 months already served in county jail.
