See photos from brush fire that threatened Roseville homes

A brush fire on the northern boundary of Roseville got close enough to homes for some residents to consider fleeing Monday evening, but firefighters were able to contain it without any structures being lost.
The 65-acre fire near Fieldstone Court broke out around 5:45 p.m. and was announced 100% contained by the Roseville Fire Department at 8:30 p.m. Units from Cal Fire, Rocklin, Lincoln and South Placer Fire also assisted on the blaze — which was briefly identified by Cal Fire as the Duluth Fire, named for a road just north of the city limits.
“Thank God the wind was blowing the other way,” said Roseville resident Dave Smith. “We were there with hoses, but garden hoses aren’t going to do a lot.”
