A new addition to Kaiser Permanente’s Roseville Medical Center is a step closer to coming to fruition.

The project, when completed, would add a six-story bed tower to the northwest corner of the medical center. The plan would add 58 beds and 69 workers along with a new parking structure with 800 spaces.

Cost for the 278,000-square-foot complex and other improvements would total $298.6 million, according to filings Kaiser made to the state.

Roseville’s Planning Commission forwarded the project to City Council in its meeting Thursday. The project will now be the subject of two public hearings before the City Council votes on the proposal — dates for those meetings have yet to be announced.

The project expands on a 2004 addition to the hospital and is planned to offer more services to the growing number of Kaiser Permanente patients in the region.

In addition to increased bed space, the project will include a “new main hospital entrance and drop off area; expansion of the existing Emergency Department to add 36 new treatment bays; and a new generator yard and internal upgrades to the existing Central Utility Plant,” according to planning documents.

If approved, construction is anticipated to last four and a half years, according to planning documents. It will be built on existing parking lots bordering Eureka Road and Lead Hill Boulevard
