Pedestrian struck, killed by car on Sunrise Boulevard near Roseville, CHP says

Pedestrian fatality

A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning on Sunrise Boulevard near Roseville’s city limits, California Highway Patrol officials said.

A 50-year-old man walked “directly” into the path of an incoming vehicle, a 2013 Ford Fusion heading southbound on Sunrise, which struck the man just south of Kensington Drive, around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, the CHP’s Auburn office said in a news release.

The pedestrian died at the scene, according to the CHP. He will be identified by the Placer County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

The Ford driver, a 44-year-old Rocklin man who was driving for Uber at the time, remained at the scene. The Ford was traveling about 40 mph when it struck the pedestrian, CHP officials said, and alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Southbound Sunrise Boulevard was closed for about an hour while authorities investigated.
