Roseville News

A growing Sacramento suburb ranks 2nd in nation for one-way U-Haul arrivals

Roseville ranks second in the nation for one-way rentals of U-Haul trucks in 2022, a sign of continued growth for Placer County’s largest city.

According to the annual U-Haul Growth Index, “do it yourself movers” pushed the city up from the number eight spot the year before.

It is the only California city to make the list.

“The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled according to the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks arriving in a city or state, versus departing from that city or state, in a calendar year,” U-Haul said. “Migration trends data is compiled from more than 2 million one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occur annually across the U.S. and Canada.”

Ocala, Fla. took the top spot the list. It had a 6% increase in arrivals and 1% increase in departures.

“It is the third consecutive year that a Florida city has topped the U-Haul growth rankings,” U-Haul said. “The Kissimmee-St. Cloud corridor earned that honor in 2021. North Port was No. 1 for 2020.”

Madison, Wis. came in third place after Roseville. But overall, southern cities dominated the list.

Other notable locations on the list included Palm Bay-Melbourne, Fla.; Auburn-Opelika, Ala.; North Port, Fla.; Myrtle Beach-North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Surprise, Ariz.; Huntsville, Ala.; and Charleston-North Charleston, S.C.
