Hotel, restaurants and amenities coming to new development near William Jessup in Rocklin
A new 10-acre retail and hospitality complex is coming to Rocklin.
The city has received an application to develop the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and University Avenue, across the street from William Jessup University, and the project is progressing through the permitting process.
The proposed project, billed as University Square, is “a commercial center including a daycare, a gas station with convenience store and car wash, a hotel, and four shops/pad buildings that include retail space and three quick serve restaurants with drive-throughs, along with the associated site improvements, including parking, landscaping, and pedestrian amenities/outdoor dining,” according to an application filed with the city.
The hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn, is planned to have four stories with 116 rooms.
The neighboring daycare is planned to accommodate up to 165 children up to 6 years old. It will offer a traditional curriculum of mathematics, language arts, science and social studies, as well as drama and physical education.
The proposed gas station, a Circle K, will be open 24 hours a day and sell tobacco products, plus beer and wine, according to the project plan.
A few restaurants are also included in the plan, including a sit-down restaurant with outdoor seating. The tenants have not yet been announced, according to plans.
The commercial complex would take up 10 acres of a 30-acre parcel. The remaining 20 acres are the future site of the Estia residential development, a medium-high-density neighborhood with single-story homes and duplex properties.
