Pile of dead goats, sheep found in Placer County is investigated by animal services

Roseville news

Dead animals found Tuesday in an unincorporated area just southwest of Roseville are being investigated by Placer County Animal Services, authorities said.

The pile was found on Dyer Lane and consisted of goats and sheep but no domestic animals, according to Katie Combs Prichard, a Placer County spokeswoman. The carcasses were animals butchered for processing that appeared to have been disposed of inappropriately, she said Thursday.

Officials said a few calls regarding inappropriate dumping of deceased animals have been made in the area dating as far back as 2010, but the animals in these incidents are not abused. Inappropriate dumping without evidence of animal abuse is seen periodically in agricultural areas throughout the county, authorities said.

Animal control officers continue to investigate the incident, Combs Prichard said.
