Placer County tourism just broke a record. Here’s how much visitors spent in 2025
Tourism spending in Placer County reached a record $1.57 billion in 2025, according to Visit Placer, the county’s tourism bureau.
The data from Visit Placer shows an increase of 4.1% from the previous year, more than double California’s 1.7% growth rate, the agency reported.
The tourism industry in Placer County supported 16,000 jobs and generated $137.5 million in state and local tax revenue, up 3% year over year.
Statewide, visitor spending across California’s 58 counties rose to $158.9 billion in 2025.
Visit Placer data showed broad-based gains across sectors, led by lodging and dining increases. Hotel and short-term rental spending rose 5.6% to $849 million, while food service spending climbed 5.2% to $411 million.
The gains were about 44% above the pandemic-era low of $1.09 billion in 2020. The 2020 figure marked the lowest level since 2015.
Rob Haswell, CEO of Visit Placer, said even in a choppy economic climate, Placer County travel continues to grow.
“More and more, folks are discovering Placer County as they search for authentic experiences,” he said.
