Rocklin set to celebrate National Public Works Week with free family fun event
Meet the Machines, Rocklin’s hands-on celebration of all things big, loud and built to work, will return next week with trucks to climb, horns to honk and family-friendly activities.
The free community event returns May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rocklin Public Works Corporation Yard, 4801 Alvis Court, where kids and adults alike can get an up-close look at heavy equipment, service vehicles and the machines that help keep the city running.
Mayor David Bass said the event, now in its third year, has quickly become a favorite tradition for local families.
“This event is a great way to showcase the dedicated employees and equipment that help maintain our roads, parks, infrastructure, and public spaces while giving kids and families a fun and memorable hands-on experience,” he said.
Held in celebration of National Public Works Week, the event will feature equipment from the city’s Public Works and Parks & Recreation departments, along with specialty vehicles and machinery from regional partner agencies.
Attendees can climb aboard massive trucks, meet the operators behind the wheel and learn how public works professionals keep streets smooth, parks green and city services moving.
Admission is free, though attendees are encouraged to register in advance through Eventbrite.
