Portion of Yolo County road closed due to expected flooding. Here’s where

A portion of a Yolo County road closed indefinitely Saturday due to expected flooding after heavy rainfall this week, county officials announced.

The closure will extend on County Road 22 in Woodland from approximately 1 mile east of its intersection with Main Street to the Interstate 5 westbound ramp, according to a news release from the county.

County Road 22 runs through the Yolo Bypass and becomes submerged when water levels rise in the Sacramento River and the Fremont Weir spills into bypass to reduce flooding in Sacramento, according to the release. It is likely to remain flooded for several days.

The primary detour will likely be Interstate 5, and access to homes, properties and businesses will be maintained along the closed section of the road.

The road closure will remain in effect until the water level recedes, at which point Yolo County Road Maintenance will clean and repair any flood-related damage before reopening the road, according to the release. Road closures can be monitored at the county’s website.
