UC Davis student dies after collision on university’s West Campus, say campus officials
A UC Davis student died Monday at a Vacaville hospital after being struck in a collision between a car and bicycle on the university’s West Campus, university officials said.
The collision happened just before 3 p.m. Monday on Hutchison Drive in the West Village housing area of the UC Davis campus, university officials said in a statement. The student was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where the student was pronounced dead.
UC Davis officials did not release the student’s name in its initial statement. The Solano County Coroner’s Office later identified the student as Lincoln Sabini, 20, the Davis Enterprise reported. Sabini, an agriculture major, graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in Sacramento’s Land Park neighborhood in 2024.
Sabini worked as a laboratory aide at UC Davis, where he collected and processed plant samples and helped design experiments, according to his LinkedIn profile. During his studies, he also worked as a field intern in the Salinas Valley.
UC Davis police major accident investigators were working with other agencies to determine the cause of the crash. It was unclear if the driver of the vehicle was arrested or cited in the incident.
Counseling resources were made available to students, faculty and staff, officials said.
