Where do I purchase the e ‐ Edition for the iPad and how much does it cost?

You have two subscription options:

Sacramento Bee Digital only subscription

 ‐‐ This subscription package includes the iPad app plus unlimited 24/7 access to sacbee.com, other tablet and smartphone apps and The Bee's e‐Edition (exact replica of the printed newspaper) on computers, laptops and most tablets. A Bee digital only subscription can be used on more than one device. The package is available for $0.99 for 4 weeks (introductory offer). Sacramento Bee iTunes subscription

‐‐ This subscription can be purchased from the iTunes App Store. The iTunes subscription includes access to the e-Edition (exact digital replica of the printed newspaper) only and does not include access to any other Sacramento Bee content as described in the above Digital Only package. An iTunes subscription only works on one device. A one month subscription is $7.99, and a one year subscription is $79.99

Can I try the app for free before making a purchase?

Yes, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the iTunes App Store
  2. Download the app; there is no cost.
  3. Open the app and you will see a stack of newspapers.
  4. Go to the last newspaper in the stack (the one with a blue header).
  5. Tap the newspaper and it will open.  
  6. The iPad features such as navigation, article enlarging, swiping and tapping will work on the preview issue.

My iTunes subscription has locked me out. How can I restore my subscription?

Assuming your app is properly installed and your subscription has not expired, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your iPad.
  2. Tap the Sac Bee e‐Edition icon on your iPad screen.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, tap "See My Options."  
  4. In the next dialog box, tap "Existing iOS Subscriber."
  5. You will be prompted to enter your Apple ID, which you should do.
  6. In the "Verification" dialog box that appears, tap "Dismiss."  
  7. Today's edition of The Bee will begin to download.  

My app seems to be defective. How can I delete it?

To delete and reinstall the app: assuming your subscription has not expired:  

  1. Tap and hold the app until it jiggles.
  2. Tap the X on the app.
  3. Press the Home button.
  4. Go to the App store and download the app again.
  5. Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.

How can I print an article?
  1. Double tap on the article you want to print.
  2. Tap the send/print icon in the upper right.
  3. Tap "Share via Mail" and send to a printer or computer with a printer connection.

How can I print the crossword puzzle?

You will need to take a screen shot of your favorite puzzle or image and send to a wireless printer. Please follow these steps:

  1. Open The Sacramento Bee iPad Edition app.
  2. Go to the puzzle or image you want to capture.
  3. Position the puzzle on your iPad screen to view full screen.
  4. Press and hold the "Power" button and the “Home” button at the same time (your screen will flash).
  5. Go to "Photos" and locate the screen shot.  
  6. Tap the icon for sending and printing (located in the lower left corner of the photo).
  7. Select your wireless printer and tap print.  

How can I get rid of the old newspapers stored on my iPad?

The iPad app automatically deletes newspapers more than seven days old. If you want to delete the current newspapers, you will need to manually clear your cache. Here’s how:

  1. Turn on your iPad.
  2. Tap the "Settings" icon on your screen.
  3. Scroll down to the Sac Bee “e-Edition” app and tap on it.
  4. Tap "Enable sign out" so that it is turned on.
  5. Press the home button.
  6. Open the e-Edition app and go to the "Recent Issues" page (the page that shows the seven newspapers).
  7. On the "Recent Issues" page, tap on the bottom left corner (there is nothing to tap on, just tap the corner)
  8. On the "Clear Cache?" dialog box that appears, tap Clear.
  9. Your app will automatically close indicating your cache has been cleared.

How can I get a continuous download?

On the issue you are reading, tap "Download for Offline" found in the upper left. "Download for Offline" is a feature for people with limited data plans. If a limited data plan is not an issue for you, tapping the button allows a complete and quick download of the entire newspaper.   

What time is The Sacramento Bee iPad edition published?

A new edition of the e-Edition will be ready each day at 4:00am Pacific Time.

Are all of the advertising inserts in The Sacramento Bee iPad edition?

The iPad e‐Edition does not have all of the advertising inserts. The main reason is advertising varies from region to region. You can go online to find all of the inserts for your area. Go to sacbee.com/findnsave

Can I read the newspaper in different languages?

The Sacramento Bee iPad edition is only available in English. If you have a Sacramento Bee

Digital subscription, you can read articles in many different languages when using The Bee's e‐ Edition on the PC or MAC.

I have an iTunes subscription and I want to turn off auto‐renew. How can I do that?

Please follow these steps to turn off auto‐renew:

  1. Turn on your iPad.
  2. Tap the "Settings" icon on your screen.
  3. Tap "iTunes & App Stores" (along left side of Settings screen).
  4. Tap the button that has your Apple ID.
  5. Tap "View Apple ID" in the dialog box that appears (you might be prompted to enter
  6. your Apple ID password).
  7. In the "Account" popup window, look for "Subscriptions" and tap the "Manage" button.
  8. Tap "The Sacramento Bee for the iPad" subscription.
  9. Turn auto‐renew off and tap "Done" when you are finished.
