Six swim schools in Sacramento are still enrolling swimmers of all ages. Where?
Summer is right around the corner and with it comes sunny, hot days and kids at home wanting something to do.
If they’re interested in learning how to swim or in improving their swimming skills, there’s still time to sign up at one of the Sacramento area’s many indoor and outdoor pools that offer swim lessons no matter the age or the skill level.
We found pools with open registration for classes in July and August as well as prices for swim lessons.
Here’s what to know:
Clunie Pool
McKinley Park community pool teaches basic swimming skills for infants, children and teens with little to no swimming experience. The lessons focus on getting comfortable in the water, breath control, floating and swimming independently.

Little Whale Swim School
The Arden Arcade Little Whale Swim School holds 30-minute classes for people of all ages and skill levels. Each lesson is tailored to the specific needs of the age group including balance and buoyancy, treading water and underwater swim and stroke technique. Classes are taught in four weekly lessons, plus one additional quarterly lesson per enrollment.
Parents can sign their child up for either the Arden Arcade or Land Park location.

SafeSplash Swim School
The Curtis Park swim school offers programs for toddlers, children, adults and adaptive swimmers. The school prides itself on ensuring every lesson builds confidence, safety and skill, according to the school’s website. This swim school has locations in Land Park, Arden Arcade, Natomas, Carmichael, Citrus Heights and Elk Grove.

Price: $125 to $399 based on a 4-week month
VIP Swim School
VIP Swim School offers 30-minute private swim lessons held at a private pools in Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove and North Sacramento. Lessons are available Fridays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. By the end of 10 lessons, students will have learned freestyle and the breaststroke, as well as how to tread water and feel confident in water.

Sacramento Central YMCA
Take a swim lesson from “America’s most trusted swim program” with swim classes for all ages divided into classes for parent and child, youth group swim and adults and teens. Private swim lessons are also available. Income-based financial aid is available for those interested. Registration for the July session closes on Sunday, June 21 and the August session closes on Sunday, July 26.

West Sacramento Swim Lessons
In the past decade, the City of West Sacramento learn to Swim Program has taught almost 15,000 students. Registration is open for the July sessions.
