Sacramento rail exhibit remembers the Panama Canal opening
“Two Glorious Expositions, One Golden State: Celebrating the Panama Canal in 1915” at the California State Railroad Museum educates visitors about two large-scale expositions that celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal in 1915 – one in San Francisco and one in San Diego. Near the exhibit, which will remain through Jan. 10, is the museum’s 9-inch gauge Overfair Railway locomotive No. 1915, constructed for one of the 1915 expositions.
