Heading to a Cinemark theater to watch a movie? Better travel light.

Effective Thursday, no bags larger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches will be allowed in, with exceptions on medical equipment and diaper bags.

The new policy is being enforced “in an effort to enhance the safety and security of our guests and employees,” according to Cinemark’s website.

All bags can be searched upon entering, and the theaters do not have an area to leave bags or other belongings not permitted inside.

There are eight Cinemark theaters in the area, including Century DOCO and XD, Century Arden 14 and XD, and locations in Folsom, Roseville and Rocklin.
