Sacramento’s Deftones receive three nominations for Grammys, two decades after first win
The 2022 Grammy nominations are out and Sacramento’s Deftones snagged 3 nods.
The Recording Academy announced the nominations Tuesday morning for 86 categories.
The band was nominated for Best Rock Performance for “Ohms,” Best Metal Performance for “Genesis” and Best Remixed Recording.
This comes more than two decades after the band’s first Grammy win in 2000, for Best Metal Performance for “Elite” from their third studio album, “White Pony.”
The alternative metal band, which now consists of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, Frank Delgado and Sergio Vega, formed in a garage in South Sacramento in 1988. They’ve since released nine studio albums.
“Ohms” is their latest album and is home to the two tracks that were nominated for the Grammy.
Winners of the 64th Grammy Awards will be announced at the 2022 Grammy Awards Show on Monday, Jan. 31. It will be broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena, previously known as the Staples Center, in Los Angeles.
You can catch the show live from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on CBS or on-demand on Paramount+.
