Sacramento area is getting a new concert spot. Get a sneak peek and see who plays it first
The new Hard Rock Live, coming to the Sacramento region, has set its opening date for this summer, featuring Grammy award-winning band Maroon 5.
Nine months after announcing plans for its construction in Yuba County, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento’s indoor concert venue will unveil on June 3 with a concert from the pop band led by vocalist Adam Levine, the venue announced this week.
“We’ve been wanting to have a Hard Rock Live since when we first opened,” said Mark Birtha, president of the casino, during a Monday morning media tour of the facility.
Hard Rock Live will be the last step in the casino’s $75 million property expansion, which began with the construction of a Hard Rock branded gas station, warehouse and office space.
The 65,000 square foot two-story building, sits north of the casino and adjacent to its existing Kumi Events Center. The new event space seats 2,500 people.
“It really creates a lot of flexibility for us to do whatever the market says they want to have happen,” Birtha said. “And we really haven’t had a facility like this in this part of Sacramento region ever, so it’s going to be pretty dynamic.”
The $56 million event space, which will be owned and operated by Hard Rock and booked and promoted by Live Nation, will be a multi-purpose space for concerts, sporting events and more.
The second level will have VIP boxes and balcony seating. Patrons be able to reserve the space for meetings, marketing promotions, conventions and catered events.
The space will also serve as a community shelter resource for regional emergencies for up to 1,000 people at a time.
Take a look inside the soon-to-be Hard Rock Live
On Monday, the space was a dimly lit active construction site with an average of 50 to 75 workers inside the space at a time.
As you pull into the parking lot of the Yuba County casino, situated more than 30 miles north of Sacramento near Wheatland, you’re greeted by a few things: the large casinoand the construction site connected to it.
A blue and white sign, hoisted by a large crane and taped off by yellow construction tape, reads “Hard Rock Live.” It’s one of the several details being etched into the the less than 3-year-old casino’s indoor concert and event space.
Once through the north entrance of the casino, brightly lit slot machines and patterned carpet catches the eye until guided through a narrow hall with construction walls on either side. The sound of the game floor fades and the noise of active construction kicks in.
Just through the white double doors, there’s not an inch of the ground that’s not covered in something or by someone: metal, wood, saw dust, a construction worker exchanging a lunch break for a nap.
Construction will end mid-May and Hard Rock Casino will open the doors to its event space several days later.
“We have some amazing artists, that again, you would only see in a Golden 1 type of space, that you’re going to see here and having 2,000 seats where literally you’re 100 feet away and that’s the worst seat...that’s a steal,” Birtha said.
How to get tickets to Maroon 5 at Hard Rock Live
To get a seat opening night, it’ll cost you about $100 a ticket and around $400 to be in the front row. Tickets will go on sale Friday on Ticketmaster, where all future event tickets will be sold.
