Danny Wimmer Presents, the production company responsible for Aftershock, is bringing a new country music festival to Sacramento this fall.

The two headliners are Tim McGraw and Sam Hunt.

In partnership with Visit Sacramento, the two-day GoldenSky Country Music Festival announced it will come to Discovery Park Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.

The goal, said Visit Sacramento CEO Mike Testa in a news release, is to “raise Sacramento’s profile as a leisure destination.”

The country music festival is the weekend after the 10-year-old rock festival, Aftershock, which runs from Oct. 6 to 9.

Danny Hayes, CEO of Danny Wimmer Presents, said in the release he believes more entertainment options will drive economic and civic benefit to the area. He said the festival is partnering with the city, county and Visit Sacramento on GoldenSky to make Sacramento a “top tourist destination.”

Sacramento Mayor Darell Steinberg said in the release that the festival “is a great addition to our creative economy and will help our city regain its momentum as we emerge from the pandemic.”

And this isn’t the city’s only inaugural music festival this year. Earlier this month, the Old Sacramento Waterfront announced it will also be hosting its first country music festival on July 31. The SAC Waterfront Festival will be headlining country music artist Jimmie Allen, according to a Facebook post.

GoldenSky plans top country artists on three stages and will feature local breweries and “farm to fork” dining unique to Sacramento. There will also be a dance hall saloon and mechanical bull rides.

Tickets go up for sale Friday, April 29, on the festival’s website. Single day passes are selling from anywhere between $60 and $80, depending on access level, while weekend passes start at $90.
