Sacramento weekend guide: Cinco de Mayo celebration, beer week finale and concerts
The end of the month is already approaching, and temperatures in Sacramento are starting to slightly rise.
The National Weather Service forecast shows temperatures on Saturday reaching a high of 83 degrees and cooling back down to 51 degrees at night. Skies are predicted to be mostly sunny this weekend.
In addition to events related to the first of the month, Cinco de Mayo is also nearing and some early celebrations for the holiday are taking place this weekend.
From beer week activities to an independent bookstore tour, there are a variety of activities taking place in Sacramento the weekend of April 29 to May 1.
Friday
Catch a comedy show
2100 Arden Way #225, Sacramento
Standup comedian and YouTuber Kyle Dunnigan is performing at Punch Line Sacramento this weekend. Dunnigan has had stints on several Comedy Central shows including “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Reno 911.”
General admission tickets are $25 online and $28 the day of the show. The first show takes place this Friday at 7:30 p.m. for people 18 and over.
Watch a concert at Ace of Spades
1417 R St., Sacramento
Popular American rap producer Pi’erre Bourne will be performing at Ace of Spades on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online, starting at $47.
The rapper, whose off-stage name is Jordan Jenks, is perhaps best known for producing Playboi Carti’s track “Magnolia,” according to The Fader.
Saturday
Yoga and brunch
1323 Terminal St., West Sacramento
Jackrabbit Brewing is holding an all-ages vinyasa yoga class starting at 11 a.m. as a part of Sacramento’s Beer Week festivities. The brewery is also inviting attendees to stay for “beermosas” and brunch catered by a food truck after the workout.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite for $12. A yoga mat and towel is recommended for the class — as well as warm clothing for the final resting pose.
Beer Week runs through May 1.
Go on a local bookstore tour
Multiple bookstores, Capital Books: 1011 K Street Sacramento
This Saturday is Independent Bookstore Day, and Sacramento area bookshops are ready for the occasion.
A total of 10 bookstores are participating in the second annual Gold Country Book Tour, in which they will be giving away items like bookmarks and stickers along with a $10 purchase. Tour participants and other customers will be entered into a raffle by going to each bookstore. More information for the 2022 tour is available online.

May Day festival
111 I St, Sacramento
Several Sacramento history organizations are coming together to hold an outdoor May Day Festival at the Old Sacramento Historic Park.
The family-friendly celebration, which is taking place from noon to 4:30 p.m., will feature traditional maypole dancing, crafts, games and gold panning. The event is free and open to the public.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
2115 Sixth St., Sacramento
Fiesta En La Calle, which hosts a variety of Latino cultural events, is holding its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at Southside Park this weekend. The celebration is family-friendly.
The event is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The free festival features musical performances, dancing and a mariachi band.
