Rapper Kendrick Lamar is coming to Golden 1 Center this summer, his first tour stop in Sacramento in more than five years, as part of his newly announced “Big Steppers” tour.

Lamar, 34, on Friday dropped his long-awaited fifth studio album, “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers,” and announced the full schedule for a three-leg tour through North America, Europe and Oceania.

The acclaimed hip-hop artist will perform at Golden 1 Center on Aug. 30, followed by a pair of shows at Oakland Arena on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

Fellow pgLang record labelmates Baby Keem and Tanna Leone will open for Lamar on all three legs of the “Big Steppers” tour.

Tickets go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on May 20 at noon.

“Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers” launched on streaming platforms Friday morning, and has earned overwhelmingly positive early reviews.

The Compton native last performed in California’s capital in August 2017 on “The Damn Tour,” supporting his fourth studio album, “Damn.”
