Your guide to Sacramento Wide Open Walls: Who are the artists and where are there murals?

Wide Open Walls, an annual Sacramento mural festival, will wrap this week — but its events will run all summer long.

Founded in 2016, less than a dozen murals were painted thought midtown and the downtown Sacramento area. Now, the festival brings artists from all over to transform the region in street art.

“Wide Open Walls brings underserved neighborhoods public art that encourages a sense of pride and identity,” the festival organization states on their website.

Wide Open Walls, sponsored by dozens of organizations including the City of Sacramento, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Sacramento State University, Dignity Health and more, kicked off May 12 and will conclude Sunday, May 22. But events will run throughout the summer.

Since 2016, more than 80 pieces of permanent artwork have been made for the Sacramento area. Murals have been created in downtown Sacramento, midtown, Del Paso, The River District, Oak Park, South Sacramento and more, according to the festival’s Facebook page.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s artist lineup, events, map, tour and more.
