6 things to do in Sacramento this weekend: Pride Month celebrations, free concert, more
Friday not only kicks off the first weekend of June but the start of Pride Month, with a months worth of marches, parades, concerts and more to celebrate.
This weekend is jammed packed with LGBTQ pride-themed gatherings in Sacramento as well as your standard activities including nature walks, drink specials and a free concert in the park.
Here are a few activities happening in Sacramento this weekend, June 3 to June 5:
FRIDAY
Cesar Chavez Plaza - Ninth and J Streets
Vibe out at a Concert in the Park with music and drinks. The free concert runs 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Cesar Chavez Plaza.
After the free Concert in the Park festival ends at 9 p.m., head to one the 10 participating bars for the Concert in the Park after party to get discounted drinks. Just show your Bud Light wristband.
The participating bars include London Nightclub, Republic, Social Nightclub, Flatstick Pub, Tiger Bar and Restaurant and more.
Sacramento Comedy Spot - 1050 20th St. Suite #130, Sacramento
The Sacramento Comedy Spot will host a LQBTQ stand-up comedy show featuring four comedians. The show runs from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
Tickets are $15 per person.
SATURDAY
Koobs Nature Area - 5325 Engle Rd., Carmichael
Enjoy a Saturday submerged in nature at the Koobs Nature Area. The family-friendly event will showcase Sacramento’s native plants including valley oaks, cottonwood trees and more from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can also explore the preserve.
Oak Park Brewing Co. - 3514 Broadway, Sacramento
Oak Park Brewing Co. will host a family-friendly pop-up shop for Pride Month on their side lot with food, music and more. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
The Scarlet Room - 2708 J St., Sacramento
The Scarlet Room at The Harlow’s will host a Sacramento Pride weekend dance party, featuring music from LGBTQ artists. The event is 21 and older.
SUNDAY
Mckinley Rose Garden - 3255 H St., Sacramento
Talk a stroll through The McKinley Rose Garden, Sacramento’s oldest public rose garden, according to its Facebook page. The garden, which is open 24 hours a day, includes rose bushes, paths and benches.
