Amidst a storm of fluctuating regulations and Covid-19 cancellations, global concert touring is back. This year, three Black artists have made it to the top of the charts, ranking in the top 20 for ticket sales so far this year.

Maxwell

Over 25 years since his musical debut, R&B legend Maxwell is still selling out stadiums. The artist’s burgeoning musical ambitions initially included submitting songs for others, yet after being noticed by executives, his first nightlife performances had the likes of Eddie Murphy and Spike Lee in the audience. Carrying on his legendary legacy with new music for the modern generation, the artist’s ongoing tour is in support of his upcoming album, blacksummers’NIGHT, the third in a trilogy stretching back to 2009.

New Edition

Nearly 45 years after the group’s inception, the boy-turned-man band brought crowds of passionate and nostalgic fans out in cities across the world. While the group is somewhat infamous for internal conflict, singer Bobby Brown has stated that this time around the focus is on love, and Icy Hot.

Tyler, the Creator

Coming off of a Best Rap Album Grammy win for 2022, the irreverent and soulful artist who has broken boundaries in the genre since his youth is on tour throughout the summer. In addition to experimental musical styles that depart from rap’s beginnings, the artist has also challenged the community by being openly queer after dropping hints throughout the years.
