As summer season officially comes to a close this weekend, and temperatures start to drop, enjoy activities throughout the Sacramento region like jazz in the park, a salsa festival and even outdoor yoga.

The official first day of autumn lands on Sept. 22, but if you’re eager to get into the fall spirit, apple picking at Delfino Farms has already started.

Here’s what you can expect this weekend Sept. 16-18 in Sacramento.

Friday

Yoga at Fremont Park

Head to the Fremont Park for the Midtown Parks free health and wellness summer series. The program is expected to end this month, and classes are offered everyday with activities, including Pilates, yoga and boot-camp classes if you’re into a more intense workout.

REI night for Sacramento Running Week

The REI Co-op is teaming up with running groups in the area to close off Sacramento’s Running week. Head to Bike Dog Brewing Company in West Sacramento for an evening off the track.

Casque Wines

Head to Casque Wines Tasting Rooms for a night of food, live music and wine tasting. Its Friday Night September series brings in different live entertainment and food trucks each Friday. Music will be live from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you want to be seated at 5 p.m. reservations are required. Tickets for the event are $10.

Saturday

Salsa Festival

Head to Raley’s for its Sacramento Salsa Festival. The family-friendly event will have live music, food, drinks and salsa. If you have a salsa recipe you want to enter into the contest the entry fee will be $50. The first place winner will win a $1,000 cash prize. Tickets for the event are $10.

R Street Marketplace

This weekend, support local vendors at the R Street Marketplace. The event takes place every first and third Saturday of the month.

California Brewers Festival at Discovery Park

Enjoy a beer and support local children’s charities at this years California Brewers Festival. The event will have live music, food trucks, a wine tent and ciders. General admission tickets are $55 and will get you into the festival at 1 p.m. VIP tickets are $95 and get you into the festival at noon.

Sunday

Oak Park Farmers Market

Sundays are for Farmers Markets at Oak Park, where you can support local fruit and produce vendors this weekend. The farmers market also has interactive activities for kids and live local music.

Meadowview Jazz and R&B Festival

Head to Meadowview Park for an evening of live jazz and R&B performances from groups like Lyfe Jennings, Bobby V and MYA. The event is a two-day festival and closes out the weekend Sunday. Tickets are $40 for the event.

If you’re in the fall spirit, then head out to Delfino Farms to pick fresh apples at one of its farms, like the Pine-O-Mine and Smokey Ridge and O’Halloran’s Apple Trail Ranch. Due to the cold snap last spring, its apple harvesting was impacted but you can still pick apples at select ranches and purchase apple products.

You can also pick pumpkins starting this weekend.
