This weekend the holiday spirit will be felt throughout Sacramento.

Or if you’re looking for an activity for the whole family, the popular Sacramento ice rink will also be opening Thursday, in downtown.

Here are the weekend events happening in Sacramento for Nov. 11 through Nov 13. Let me know if there’s anything else to check out at jpinedo@sacbee.com.

Sacramento newbies

It has been cold lately!

I don’t know about you, but these chilly temperatures make it really difficult to go outside — and as a Southern California lady anything under 60 is freezing.

My plans over the weekend were to cuddle up with a book, which led me to discover East Village Bookshop.

The independent bookstore is charming and has a great selection of new and classic books to choose from. They also host community events, like a sewing ornament workshops. With the holidays right around the corner, it is also a great place to buy a gift from a small local owned business.

Let me know if you check them out, or even if you have any book recommendations.
