Here are 4 Sacramento events to celebrate Lunar New Year this week

Lunar New Year is on Sunday and Sacramento is celebrating with live music, food and games at various events around the city.

Also known as Chinese New Year, holiday celebrations last 16 days and mark the new zodiac year — 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit.

Rooftop Macarons Lion Dance

1:30 p.m., Monday

8876 Vintage Park Dr.

Watch a traditional lion dance to ring in the New Year with good luck at Rooftop Macarons, a bakery in Elk Grove.

The first 100 customers will get lucky red envelopes, a customary gift given to loved ones during Chinese New Year.

Sip N’ Socialize

6 p.m., Tuesday

1601 R St.,Third Floor

The Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Sip N’ Socialize event. You can meet with commerce staff, small business owners and other community members. There will be drinks and appetizers, and a raffle.

ACC Senior Services Lunar New Year

11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28

7334 Park City Dr.

ACC Senior Services is hosting a free celebration at its center in the Pocket neighborhood. There will be food trucks, crafts, cultural performances and cooking demonstrations.

If you RSVP on Eventbrite, you’ll get a free raffle entry.

Lunar New Year Tet Festival 2023

Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29

5901 Florin Rd. in the former Sears parking lot

The annual Tet Festival at Florin Road is back with carnival rides, games, singers, live entertainment and raffles. There will also be food vendors and other merchants.
