See photos as Lumineers light up Golden 1 Center on the Automatic World Tour

Indie folk stars The Lumineers made a stop in Sacramento this week as a part of the the Automatic World Tour.

“This is the biggest crowd we’ve played to in Sacramento,” said Wesley Schultz, the lead singer of The Lumineers, as the band took the stage at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento on Wedensday night.

The show took the audience through a range of emotions. Fan Stephanie Williams said she believes that mix is part of the band’s appeal.

“(Schultz) writes more soulful songs, songs that have more meaning, and so I have listened to them and connected with them at different points in my life,” she said. “Some of the sadder songs are my favorites, but I also love the energy.”

Toward the end of the show, Schultz took a moment to speak about his younger brother, Samuel “Sam” Fraites, who died in May .

“I am coming at you with a pretty heavy heart,” Schultz said. “(His death) has given me a lot of pause about the power of music … and how it is medicine.”

The tour stop follows the release of an album of the same name in February 2025. The album, which was highly anticipated, was the group’s fifth studio release.

British singer-songwriter Tom Odell opened the show at Golden 1 Center with songs such as “Black Friday” and “Another Love.”

The Lumineers last played at Golden 1 Center in 2022.

The tour will make stops at Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Thursday and Friday night before leaving the state.
