The 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence is Saturday, and a time-honored birthday tradition is set to continue around Sacramento.
Cities in the region will set off fireworks and host festivals to mark the holiday, with some events spanning multiple days to maximize partying potential.
Sutter Health Park’s beloved holiday event, Fourth on the Field, is not returning this year, so here’s where else you can catch firework shows around the capital region.
Sacramento County July Fourth events
The City of Sacramento has not announced any fireworks events in the capital city, but other spots around the county have planned celebrations.
Salute to the Red, White and Blue in Elk Grove
Location: Elk Grove Regional Park, 9950 Elk Grove Florin Road, Elk Grove
Hours: 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, July 4
The City of Elk Grove is honoring the nation’s birthday with its signature annual Salute to the Red, White and Blue, featuring live music, a silent disco party, fireworks and a drone show.
Celebrants can kick off their day as early as 7 a.m., when gates to Elk Grove Regional Park open for early risers looking to snag a prime spot.
Festivities kick off at 5 p.m., when vendors, food trucks and other activities open up, and the city will host an opening ceremony and play the national anthem around 7 p.m. Local party band Pop Fiction will turn the vibes up with a live concert in the park starting at 7:30 p.m. before drones and fireworks light the sky around 9:30 p.m., according to the event’s website.
Admission is free, but parking costs $15 per vehicle, and in-and-out privileges are offered until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Rancho Cordova Fourth of July
Location: Hagan Community Park, 2197 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova
Hours: 4 p.m.-11 p.m. Friday, July 3 and 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, July 4
One of the area’s largest Independence Day events will include a carnival, circus, concerts, eating competitions, a parade and of course, fireworks.
Rancho Cordova’s two-day extravaganza kicks off Friday, with a slew of fair-style activities throughout the evening. Saturday’s festivities include a running race and a Fourth of July parade before the carnival rides reopen.
A fireworks and drone show will be held both nights after live concerts in the park.
Tickets can be purchased online for $5 apiece or in person for $10. Parking also costs $10 and is cash-only, according to the event’s website.
City of Galt Independence Day Celebration

Hours: Festival starts 8 a.m., firework show begins 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4
A full day of fun events is on the docket for Galt’s July Fourth celebrations, starting at 8 a.m. with a memorial 5K run/walk at Galt City Hall before leading into the city’s usual Saturday market with a star-spangled twist and an Independence Day parade at 9:30 a.m.
Veterans Soccer Field, 900 Caroline Ave., will have kids activities, live music stages and food vendors beginning at 6 p.m. before the evening’s main Fireworks Spectacular at 9:30 p.m.
Folks looking to cool off in the water on Saturday won’t have to miss the fireworks fun — Galt will have a Fireworks in the Pool event starting at 7 p.m., at the Gora Aquatic Center, 630 Chabolla Ave. Tickets for the pool party cost $10 per person or $35 for a four-pack. Space is limited, so buying your tickets early is recommended.
Independence Day in Yolo County
City of Davis Fourth of July Celebration
Location: Community Park, 203 East 14th St., Davis
Hours: 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, July 4
Davis’s annual Fourth of July party will return Saturday at Community Park.
Starting at 4 p.m., a game zone will be available while local non-profits sell snacks. Youth entrepreneurs will have a market at the festival starting at 5 p.m., and a live music series kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
The evening’s festivities will continue until the city’s 15-minute fireworks show launches at 9:35 p.m., according to the event website.
Woodland Independence Day Celebration
Location: Woodland High School, 21 North West St., Woodland
Hours: Firework show starts 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 3
Woodland is starting its celebrations early, hosting a fireworks show and festival at Woodland High School on Friday evening.
Gates to the high school stadium open at 7 p.m. and fireworks are set to begin just over an hour later.
Fourth of July parties in Placer County
Roseville Fourth of July Celebration
Location: Multiple around Roseville
Hours: Festivities start 7:15 a.m., fireworks show begins 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4
There are various events around Roseville on Saturday morning as part of the national birthday party. The city’s annual “Run Crime Out of Roseville” race starts at 7:15 a.m. at Vernon Street Town Square, and challenges entrants to run faster than participating Roseville police officers.
Following the run, the Roseville Fourth of July Parade starts at 9 a.m., heading out from the intersection of Vernon Street, Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue in central Roseville, and arriving at Royer Park, 190 Park Drive.
Family-friendly games, food vendors and other activities will be set up at Royer Park starting at 10 a.m. after the parade ends.
Later in the evening, events venue @the Grounds, 700 Event Center Drive in Roseville, will have activities, games and concessions starting at 4 p.m. ahead of its free fireworks show which gets underway between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Parking costs $15 per vehicle, and no outside food or drink other than sealed water bottles are allowed, according to the event website.
Lincoln Fourth of July
Location: Multiple around Lincoln
Hours: Event starts 7 a.m., firework show launches 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4
Independence Day in Lincoln starts at Veterans Memorial Hall, 541 Fifth St., with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by the Lincoln Hometown Parade at Fifth and B Streets at 9:30 a.m.
From 1 p.m. onward, festivities will be centered at McBean Park, 65 McBean Park Drive, with public pool hours, a kids fun zone, music, food and a Lincoln Potters baseball game on the schedule.
The city’s fireworks celebration will kick off once the Potters game ends, expected at roughly 9:15 p.m., according to the event’s website.
Colfax Annual Third of July Celebration
Location: Downtown Colfax
Hours: 3 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday, July 3
Colfax’s Railroad Days Inc. and Wrecking Crew Bakery are ringing in the holiday early, with craft and food vendors, a beer and wine garden, a kids entertainment area and other family-friendly fun on Friday.
Two parades at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. will pass through downtown Colfax as part of the festivities, before a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.
El Dorado County Fourth of July events
Placerville Fourth of July Family Blast
Location: El Dorado County Fair and Events Center, 100 Placerville Drive, Placerville
Hours: 3 p.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, July 4
Family fun and high-octane races are marking the Fourth of July in Placerville.
Live music, food and drink vendors, bounce houses, Highland cow petting and games will be set up across the El Dorado County fairgrounds on Saturday afternoon. At 5:30 p.m., the Placerville Speedway is hosting a series of motor races with sprint cars, stock cars and more.
Following the races, the city’s Fourth of July fireworks show will start roughly between 9:30 p.m.-10 p.m., according to the event site.
Admission to the fairground costs $10 per person for ages 6 and up. Parking is $10 per vehicle. Propane barbecues, lawn activities and coolers are allowed, but outside alcohol, glass containers and charcoal grills are not.
El Dorado Hills Town Center Fireworks & Freedom Concert
Location: 4364 Town Center Blvd., El Dorado Hills
Hours: 6 p.m.-11 p.m., Friday, July 3
A live concert series at the El Dorado Hills shopping center is opening the Independence Day weekend.
Two bands will play music on different stages starting at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., while kids can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, shaved ice and more.
Fireworks are expected to begin around 9:40 p.m., the event website said. Restaurants within the Town Center will be open and advance reservations are recommended, but outside snacks are allowed. No outside beverages will be permitted.
Admission to the event is not ticketed, and folks looking to get prime fireworks seating can sign up on Friday at noon for the early entry waitlist, available on the Town Center website.
