Photo showing Billy the Kid playing croquet in 1878 authenticated, was bought near Fresno
A company claims it has authenticated a newly discovered photo featuring notorious outlaw Billy the Kid and his gang hanging out and play croquet.
Randy Guijarro purchased the photo at Clovis Sports Cards & Collectibles in 2010 for 88 cents, store owner Brad Stoops told the Clovis Independent. Kagin’s, a rare coin and collectibles dealer, verified the tintype was a picture of Billy the Kid.
A two-hour special investigating the photo, “Billy the Kid: New Evidence” narrated by Kevin Costner, will premiere 9 p.m Sunday on National Geographic Channel.
