‘Dirty Dancing’ shows to resume after cancellation

The California Musical Theatre canceled a Sacramento production of “Dirty Dancing” midway through its performance Friday night due to technical difficulties.

Theatre spokesman Matt Hessburg said the problems have been fixed and all “Dirty Dancing” shows through Jan. 4 will go on at the Community Center Theater, 1301 L St. Customers who bought tickets for Friday’s show will be given a full refund.

In a letter to patrons who attended the show, California Musical Theatre CEO Richard Lewis said, “I can tell you that canceling a show mid-performance is an extremely rare occurrence, something that I have never experienced in the more than 30 years I have been producing and presenting musical theatre ... I sincerely hope that a situation like this will not happen again in the future.”
