Allison Miller’s band to perform in Sacramento

Composer, drummer, bandleader Allison Miller released “Otis Was A Polar Bear” on Friday, April 8, inspired by the birth of her first child. Ten original compositions offer warm, buoyant melodies that could be based in Middle Eastern folk music or old-school grooves. Inventive improvisers push the music to sterner edges. Miller’s Boom Tic Boom band includes clarinetist Ben Goldberg, Kirk Knuffke on cornet and Haggai Cohen Milo on bass. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, Gold Lion Arts, 2733 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento. $15 sliding scale.
