We’ve had Sacramento rock bands, hip hop artists and a poet. Now The Sacramento Bee’s “Band Together” series turns to classical music.
Susan Lamb Cook, a member of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera, the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra and an instructor at UC Davis, will perform live at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Cook has traveled the globe with her music. According to her website, she is on the faculty at the Saarburg International Music Festival in Germany and “has also served on the artistic staff for the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, and the Vianden Festival, Luxembourg.”
Cook also “has performed as soloist with the Sacramento Philharmonic, the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, the Reno Philharmonic, the Cairo Symphony (Egypt), the Paradise Symphony, the Camellia Symphony, the American River College Orchestra, and, in 2015, was featured as soloist in a Gala Concert in the Esterhazy Palace, Eisenstadt, Austria with the Classical Music Festival Orchestra.”
For this event, we ask that you support the causes that Cook is passionate about. Those are the Sacramento Philharmonic and Orchestra and the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra.
Cook has also requested that viewers donate through the annual Big Day of Giving that benefits local charities and nonprofits.
