Davis native, celebrity comedian Hasan Minhaj announces Sacramento show
Comedian Hasan Minhaj's next homecoming is two months away.
Minhaj will take the Sacramento Community Center Theater stage at 7 p.m. on June 15, the auditorium's Facebook page announced Monday. Presale tickets are available online at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the promo code "DANCE" before the general sale begins at 10 a.m. Friday.
Minhaj grew up in Davis and graduated from UC Davis with a political science degree before doing comedy shows and acting in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
He appeared on "Arrested Development" and the MTV hidden camera show "Disaster Date" before catching his break as a correspondent on "The Daily Show" in 2014.
After skewering President Donald Trump at the 2017 White House Correspondents Association dinner, which Trump did not attend, Minhaj signed a deal with Netflix earlier this year to become the United States' first Indian-American national talk show host. His show is set to debut this fall.
Minhaj returned to give Davis High School's commencement address in 2015 and recorded his 2017 Netflix stand-up comedy special, "Homecoming King," at the Mondavi Center.
