Nominees sought for 2021 Book of Dreams, our annual giving campaign
The clouds of the pandemic have started to clear, giving us an opportunity to cherish each other’s company again, to argue openly with a mask on about whether to wear one and, maybe, to reflect a little bit more on how much we mean to each other. Our lives intersect and connect. We know that more now. We can hurt or heal.
As the holiday season approaches, we can pause and choose the latter. The Sacramento Bee is embarking on its 34th year of Book of Dreams, in which we invite the community to help those less fortunate.
In 2020, our year shutdown by COVID, you rose up to donate more than $200,000 to fulfill dreams and provide grants to community organizations. You helped provide art supplies for the homeless, materials for driving lessons for Afghan refugees, and funds to help a feline rescue group.
You can now help us help others. We’re asking for nominations for this year’s effort. We will review your requests to help others, write stories about those we select, and the community’s generous donations will make those holiday wishes come true.
Although the Book of Dreams does not approve requests for housing, cars, trips or cash, no dream is too large or too small if it makes a difference in someone’s life.
Please use the form to nominate an individual, family or nonprofit organization.
Nominations are due by Friday, Nov. 5. Finalists will be notified by mid-November. If chosen by The Bee, nominees must be willing to be featured in a story and photographed for the Book of Dreams. The Bee coordinates this effort with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.
