Postcards From Readers: Siem Reap, Cambodia in front of Angkor Wat

Christine Davis

The photographer: Christine Davis of Sacramento

Behind the lens: We saw saffron-robed monks everywhere at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. When these five sat down at the reflecting pond I quickly took this shot with my cellphone before they got up. It wasn’t until I returned to the hotel that I realized what I had taken. Since, I have rendered this image as an oil painting. This is one of the most peaceful and memorable pictures we have taken on our travels.
