Want a tropical getaway? Southwest will add new flight to this spot from Sacramento

Sacramento travelers jet-setting to a Hawaiian vacation later this year will soon have a new option for take off.

The Sacramento International Airport announced Thursday that Southwest Airlines is adding a new flight to its route from Sacramento to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

“Airlines increasing capacity to offer more options is always a win for travelers,” SMF spokesperson Lindsay Myers wrote in a statement. “We are glad Southwest is choosing to expand to two daily flights between SMF and HNL.”

Currently, Southwest operates a flight from Sacramento to Honolulu departing at 8:25 a.m. daily, arriving in Hawaii at noon, with a daily return flight leaving Honolulu at 1:20 p.m. and arriving in Sacramento at 8:40 p.m., according to Myers.

As of November, Southwest will add a second daily nonstop flight to its lineup, leaving Sacramento at 5:30 p.m. and arriving in Honolulu at 9:05 p.m. Hawaii time. The return flight from Honolulu will leave at 10:40 p.m. Hawaii time and arrive back home at 5:55 a.m. Pacific time.
