Postcards From Readers: Zermatt, Switzerland

The photographer: John Hammond of Sacramento

Behind the lens: This photo is from a hike we took this fall in Zermatt, Switzerland. Zermatt is famous for its views of the Matterhorn. There are many day hikes that families and non-climbers can take. While there, we also took the tram up to 12,000 feet to see the glaciers. It was thrilling to see this classic mountain, and as we hiked to listen to the bells tied to the goat herds and cows that graze in the lower-altitude fields.
