Postcards from Readers: Quite the cliff in France
Photographer: Don Dier Jr. of Rosemont, Sacramento County
Behind the Lens: In September, my wife and I were visiting our son and his family in southern France. We had been taking day trips to various locations. One Sunday, we visited the Gouffre de Padirac (fabulous caves) and, having half a day remaining, drove to the village of Rockamadour. We had heard of its unique construction built up the side of a 400-foot-high cliff. We were not prepared for the breathtaking view as we walked through the town square. All of a sudden, BAM! Rockamadour is one of the grand sights of France.
