Northern California’s largest car show hits Silicon Valley

Attend the largest car show in Northern California from Thursday, Jan. 7, through Sunday, Jan. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. each day.

The Silicon Valley Auto Show, hosted at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, will feature a variety of cutting-edge vehicles that will hit the streets in coming years.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to drive select 2016 models of Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Honda and Volkswagen automobiles for a more hands-on experience.

Tickets range from $8 to $11.

Discover the Dinosaur

 

What: No need to travel far to enjoy a fun, interactive dinosaur experience for the whole family. Children can enjoy dino digs, educational and entertaining dinosaur films, fossil panning and rides.

When: 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9-10

Historic Ship Sing-Along

 

What: Join sailors and more than 100 attendees aboard a historic ship at the Hyde Street Pier for a sing-along of old sea chanteys and sailor songs from the mid-1800s. Attendees are encouraged to wear warm clothing and bring a mug for hot cider. Reservations are required.

When: 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 9

Fungus Fair

 

What: Enjoy three days of fungal activities, speakers and demonstrations for the 42nd annual Fungus Fair hosted by the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz. The event will feature a re-created woodland habitat with hundreds of mushroom species found in the Santa Cruz area.

When: 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9-10

Tahoe South Restaurant Week

 

What: Local South Lake Tahoe restaurants will offer special rates on fine food, dessert and wine. Participating restaurants include MacDuff’s Pub, Riva Grill, Naked Fish and Ciera Steak and Chophouse, among dozens of others.
