TEDx conference returns to UC Berkeley
This year’s TEDxBerkeley convention, an event featuring the region’s top speakers and performers, will be held on the campus of UC Berkeley inside Zellerbach Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Saturday, Feb. 6. This year’s event is aimed at answering the questions surrounding how to solve the world’s imperfections, whether they be environmental, social or political. Speakers will include – but are not limited to – CEO of the United Nations Foundation Kathy Calvin, international journalist Stephanie Freid, surgeon and entrepreneur Dr. Susan Lim and Mind Before Mouth founder Joshua Toch.
General admission tickets cost $100 and include a full day’s worth of shows and presentations. UC Berkeley alumni, students and faculty will receive a discount.

Farm show
Colusa
What: The Colusa Farm Show has been one of the largest one-stop destinations for all things farming, showcasing the industry’s latest and greatest technology and equipment. The three-day event features seminars led by some of the industry’s top minds, including UC Davis researcher Alison Van Eenennaam.

Lake Tahoe

What: San Jose’s SoFA (South First Street Area) District will host its annual Winter Market on Friday, Feb. 5, with artisan and craft retailers from throughout the Bay Area. The event will also feature DIY activities, art galleries and live entertainment.

Chocolate After Dark
Redding
What: Redding’s Turtle Bay Museum will host its annual wine and chocolate tasting event, featuring unique chocolate desserts, local wines and a coffee bar. Featured vendors include LaRocca Vineyards, Chocolat de Nannette and the Savory Spoon. Attendees must be 21 or older.

El Presidio by candlelight
Santa Barbara
What: The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation will host a special candlelight exploration of El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park. The event will feature candlelit dance and music presentations, as well as an opportunity to observe history in a new light.
