Collin Gosselin's Ups and Downs With His Estranged Siblings Over the Years
Collin Gosselin‘s relationship with his seven siblings has been strained since he moved in with their father,Jon Gosselin, in late 2018.
"I have not spoken with my siblings in probably five or six years now," Collin told Entertainment Tonight in November 2022, adding that the estrangement has been "tough" for him to navigate. "I haven't reached out to them, they haven't reached out to me. I want to respect their space and their time and respect how they feel about everything, so I'm kind of just waiting for the day that they reach out. … I don't want to invade their space. I'd rather just let them do it on their own terms."
Two years after Jon and now-exKate Gosselin welcomed twin daughters Cara and Mady in 2002, the former nursegave birth to sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah and Aaden in 2004. After starring on several Discovery Plus specials, the family rose to fame with TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8, which chronicled the ups and downs of raising a big family. Kate ultimately filed for divorcein 2009.
Though Kate was awarded full custody of all eight children in the divorce decree, news broke in February 2018 thatHannah was living with Jon. In December of that year,he was also granted sole custody of Collin, who had beenplaced in a residential program for kids with behavioral problems two years earlier.

May 2004
Jon and Kate welcomed sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah and Aaden. The twosome - who tied the knot in 1999 -were already the parents of twins Mady and Cara, whom they welcomed two years prior.
2007
The world was introduced to the Gosselin family in April 2007 on their eponymous TLC show, Jon & Kate Plus 8. "We were all so close," Collin told ET in November 2022 about filming the reality series with his siblings.
2009
Amid rumors that Jon had cheated on his then-wife, Kate filed for divorce in 2009. The pair subsequently began a messy battle for custody of their children. "Parents of multiples have triple the divorce rate," she said during a May 2009 episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8. "I was thinking we were going to beat that. I don't know if I can say that anymore." The Kate Plus 8 star was initially granted full custody of all eight of her children, including Collin and Hannah.
2016
Kate revealed during an appearance on Good Morning America that "Collin is in a special school for special needs kids with behavioral problems." Jon quickly refuted his ex-wife's claims that their son had "behavioral problems," though he added that he understood why there may have been tensions among his children. "I could see my kids getting annoyed with [Collin] because he's the smartest and he does this, and he does that, and he always wants it his way," he told ET in November 2016. "He's very particular, which could be bothersome. But, he's very loving too."
February 2018
Hannah quietly began living with her father and joined him for multiple visits to see Collin during his breaks from the residential school.
November 2018
"Had a good weekend visit with Collin at home!" Jon wrote via Instagram in November 2018, sharing a photo with Hannah and her sibling. That same month, the father of eight filed for custody of Collin amid the fallout between him and Kate following his institutionalization.
December 2018
Jon was granted sole legal and physical custody of Collin after Kate failed to appear at the court date. The Eight Little Faces author had asked one day before the court date for it to be postponed, but her request was denied.
February 2020
"Kate has a no contact with [Collin]," the former IT analyst revealed during an appearance on the "First Class Fatherhood" podcast. "Right now, it's very tumultuous pretty much because there's no contact between Collin and his other siblings. There's contact between Hannah and the other siblings, [but not with Collin]."
November 2022
Collin revealed to ET that he hadn't spoken to the rest of his siblings - Cara, Mady, Alexis, Joel, Leah and Aaden - in "five or six years." The teenager added that he hoped they could "come together one day" to have a meal and "catch up on things that we lost." Collin continued: "I would be willing to put my parents aside and I have. In my eyes, it's me and my siblings. I love them to death. I love them very much. How I see it is, without parents involved, it's just me and them. I really hope that one day when I have kids that my kids will know their aunt and uncles. ... I would just like to see all of them ... I hope they're doing well. I hope they're living the lives that they want and that they're happy."
August 2025
Collin revealed in a TikTok video that he rarely speaks to his siblings. "I look at it more like moving forward and just kind of sharing content, and also for like TikTok at least, unfortunately, I don't talk to my siblings, and I very much wish that we did and that they knew who I actually was because we don't know each other at all," he said, claiming he was often "forced apart" from the rest of the family. "[We were] pitted against each other." He added, "All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids? I will always love them more than anything. The tears I shed behind closed doors, thinking about the memories we could've shared. I love you guys."
