Brittany Mahomes Reveals She's 'Been Battling' Wrist Injury for 1 Year

Brittany Mahomeshas been privately navigating a wrist injury.

"[Here's] my workout yesterday before I decided to finally go to the doctor about my wrist," Mahomes, 30, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, May 5, sharing her glute and hamstring gym routine.

In a follow-up slide, Mahomes revealed that she was diagnosed with De Quervain tenosynovitis.

"To find out I have this," she wrote. "Been battling it for probably around a year now, thinking it will just get better. Well, it never did and started to get pretty bad."

According to Mahomes, she now has to wear a brace on her wrist.

De Quervain tenosynovitis, otherwise known as "mother's wrist," affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist, according to Mayo Clinic. Repeating hand movements like gardening, playing racket sports or lifting a baby can exacerbate often-painful symptoms.

Brittany is a mom of three, sharing kids Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden, 15 months, with husband Patrick Mahomes.

"I think people don't even realize how much she does," Patrick, 30, said on the "Impaulsive" podcast in 2024. "I mean, taking care of the day-to-day stuff and make it where I can focus on football and focus on my craft and everything like that. [She's] a Hall of Fame mom and a Hall of Fame wife, [which] makes it a lot easier."

Patrick, the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is currently in his offseason before training camp this summer. When Patrick is locked in on NFL commitments, he turns to Brittany to help with their kids.

"I mean, when you get to come home and your best friend's there and you can just hang out, it makes you want to be there all the time," he said at the time. "She pushes me to be great and she's done a lot of great things herself."

As for Brittany, she also cheers for Patrick's success. (The couple have been together since high school, later tying the knot in 2022.)

"I think I'm a little bit more nervous every week than he is," the KC Current owner said on the "WHOOP" podcast in August 2024. "He doesn't get nervous or stressed at all. That's just what he likes to do. I think he loves going into a new week having new game plans, having new challenges, having new people that he's playing."

She continued, "I lost my husband to football last season. As a wife, I was like, ‘I understand. That's what you want to do.' So, I wasn't ragging on him and I wasn't interfering with it. understand that during football season, Patrick's with football and so I take on a lot of the things that I can just to make his life a little bit stressful outside of football. Then, offseason, it's all him, buddy!"
