Patriots Coach Mike Vrabel's Family Guide: Meet His Wife and Sons

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is a self-identified family man.

"My family is great," Mike gushed during a May 2026 press conference. "I love Jen [Vrabel], I love the boys,"

Mike and Jen have been married since 1999, going on to welcome two sons together. Their marriage, however, was thrust under a microscope in 2026 after the NFL coach was spotted with sports journalist Dianna Russini on multiple occasions despite their respective marriages.

Mike and Russini have both denied the swirling speculation about their relationship status on multiple occasions.

With the drama behind him, Mike remains focused on his family and the Patriots' upcoming season.

"This spring is focused on the coaching staff, the players - more importantly than the coaching staff - but you know, just seeing the coaches in the second year, just seeing how smooth the conversations are," he told reporters in May 2026. "‘Hey, we love this play. How do we go out and make it better?' And then these guys go out and they find ways to make it better."

Jen Vrabel

Mike and his wife met as college students at The Ohio State University. Jen told The Tennesseanin 2018 that she first noticed Mike in their freshman time management class. After asking the professor for Mike's phone number, the pair soon became inseparable.

Mike and Jen tied the knot in 1999, during his tenure playing pro football. Jen worked as a dental hygienist at the time.

"I was like, ‘Wait, the Patriots are going to sign you and you're going to start for them?'" Jen recalled to the newspaper of Mike getting drafted. "'I'm so confused. I mean awesome, but, for real?'"

Tyler Vrabel

Mike and Jen welcomed their first son in 2000. After playing college football like his dad, Tyler was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. He retired in 2024 after one week of training camp.

As for his personal life, Tyler proposed to girlfriend Mariah Romano in June 2026.

"The most perfect engagement surrounded by the people I love most," Romano gushed via Instagram from her engagement party, which future in-laws Mike and Jen attended.

Carter Vrabel

The Vrabels expanded their family, welcoming Carter, in 2001.

"I'm just going to tell you about my wife. She gave birth to Carter, I missed it, I was at practice, she was in Ohio," Mike said in a 2018 press conference. "He came early, he flipped, they had to take her. I was playing football and she was having a baby. I love her to death. She's been through a lot and she understands this league."

Much like his dad and brother, Carter played football throughout high school and college.

"You love what your family loves. There's a lot of baseball games. Carter loves baseball. When there is a baseball game, I am leaving," Mike told ESPN in 2019 of balancing work and his family. "I tell our staff that we work too much during the season for any of our guys to miss something that their family has in the offseason. That's not healthy for their families. It's not healthy for them. They're not going to be productive here at work if they're thinking, ‘Man, I wish I was at that game.' If their kid has a game or a dance recital, I need them to be involved in that."
