Midtown sushi joint is latest Sacramento restaurant to close as owner starts new eatery
Make Fish Poke & Sushi Burrito has become the most recent casualty in a long list of recent restaurant closures in Sacramento, with its owner offering a bit of respite to Sacramento foodies in the form a new eatery next door.
“It is with much love that we announce that Make Fish has had an amazing run and our time has come to an end,” a sign posted in the window of Make Fish Midtown on Thursday read. “We would like to thank all of you for all of your continual support. We look forward to crossing paths with you again in the near future.”
Make Fish occupied Suite 70 at 1801 L St. for six years and offered a menu reflective of its title, specializing in burritos filled with typical sushi fare including unagi and tempura, nearly a dozen different poke bowls and items commonly found at Hawaiian barbecue joints.
Reporting by Sactown Magazine highlighted owner Mymy Nguyen’s launch of a new venture, Saigon Alley Kitchen and Bar, which held its grand opening Jan. 10 in Suite 50 at 1801 L St., right next door to Make Fish.
The Suite 50 location had previously been occupied by Capital Dime, and most recently, Saddle Rock, which closed its doors in 2017.
Make Fish is the latest dining closure in Sacramento, a food scene that had at least 10 announcements of restaurant closures between Dec. 29 and Jan. 8, with more slated for the near future.
The closure of Make Fish’s Midtown location follows the folding of locations in Davis, Elk Grove and Howe Avenue.
