Sacramento seasonal farmers markets are back. Here’s when and where they open
The month of May signifies a couple of things to Sacramentans: severe allergies, warm weather and the return of their favorite seasonal farmers’ market.
Several markets have already made their return, including markets in downtown, Oak Park and Orangevale. But others are still gearing up for the season.
Here’s a list of seasonal farmers markets in the Sacramento area to add to your shopping list, as well as a couple of year-round markets:
SUNDAY
NEIGHBORWORKS SACRAMENTO COMMUNITY FARMERS MARKET-OAK PARK
Location: McClatchy Park - 3500 5th Ave., Sacramento
Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays

NeighborWorks Sacramento Community Farmers Market-Oak Park features locally-produced fruits, vegetables, bread, cheeses, flowers, tea, coffee and more, according to its Facebook page. The market also features live music, giveaways and a range of family-friendly activities each week.
WEDNESDAY
CAPITOL MALL CERTIFIED FARMERS’ MARKET
Location: Capitol Mall and Sixth Street, Sacramento
Hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Certified Farmers’ Market Capitol Mall location offers locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, herbs and cheese. The market accepts EBT and will run until Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to its website.
THURSDAY
Location: Cesar Chavez Plaza - 910 I St., Sacramento
Hours: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays
Starting Thursday, May 5, shoppers can pick through Bodega Days at Chavez Plaza’s farm-fresh produce, baked bread, locally-crafted gifts and creations and food vendors, according to Downtown Sac. The market will run until Tuesday, Oct. 25.
Location: 6826 Hazel Ave., Orangevale
Hours: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays
Orangevale Farmers’ Market opened Thursday, May 5 and will run through October, according to its website. Shoppers can expect a range of produce including fruit, honey, salsa, cheese, pasta, baked goods, bread, olive oil and more.
SATURDAY
Location: North Natomas Regional Park - 2501 New Market Drive, Sacramento
Hours: 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays

The Natomas Farmers Market will kick off Saturday, May 28, and will run until Saturday, Sept. 24, according to its website. The market will feature farm-fresh food, food vendors and live music.
