Indian restaurant closes in East Sacramento. But wait, it’ll reopen with new name
One restaurant offering Indian fare is giving way for another at an East Sacramento location.
Doors at Junoon Flavors of India at 3672 J St. are temporarily closed as the business undergoes a change in ownership.
Previous owner Mohit Bahl said he suffered a shoulder injury and was told by doctors he should rest.
Bahl told The Sacramento Bee he would be “out of commission” for the next nine months and decided that he would sell his business to Suman Khadka and Sushil Kuikel.
“It wasn’t COVID-19,” Bahl said of his reasoning for selling. “I had a shoulder injury. They are changing the name, but it’s going to be an Indian restaurant.”
Khadka said they are currently providing catering options, starting at $300, until their restaurant opens Saturday, May 21.
It will be renamed “New Kathmandu Kitchen”.
“We have 10 years of cooking and business experience,” Khadka said. “We make Indian food, there (are) some changes in the menu and we offer catering.”
Customers can call 916-942-9796 to place a catering order.
Khadka said they plan to add dumplings and chow mein among other new options, adding variety to their menu.
