Mud Pie Stand, an all-vegan bakery in downtown Sacramento, will permanently close next month.

The vegan sweets shop on 1430 14th St. announced last week its Sept. 17 closing, citing rising food costs, supply chain disruptions and few customers.

“We’ve decided to get completely out of the food industry as times have been tough and are only getting tougher,” the shop wrote on Facebook in a farewell post to customers Aug. 17. “We are saddened by this, but grateful for the time we’ve had.”

The post said owners will write a cookbook to “help fill the void” once it closes. The shop will continue to fulfill orders until Sept. 17.

Mud Pie Stand’s extensive menu includes cupcakes, cookies, cakes and scones ranging from $1.50 to $50. Some of their cupcake flavors include strawberry lemon, cookies and cream and vanilla caramel. The drink menu includes coffee, lattes, teas and hot chocolate.

Mud Pie Stand currently has two employees with reduced store hours. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
