Downtown Sacramento spice shop was at risk of closure. Now, it will stay with new owners
Downtown Sacramento spice shop, The Allspicery, announced on Facebook Thursday that it won’t be closing after all and will operate under new owners.
Owner Heather Wong planned to shut her business down earlier this month if she didn’t find someone to take over her store, which has been open for six years.
“While there may be some hiccups along the way, our goal is for the transition to be as quick and seamless as possible,” the store wrote on Facebook.
The post received more than 60 comments in the last five days, with many people congratulating the shop on the “good news.” The shop would have closed by the end of September if Wong was not able to find a buyer.
The announcement comes as another downtown business, Chicory Coffee & Tea, reopens after shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Allspicery, at 1125 11th Street, sells specialty spice blends, chilies, herbs and tea. It also runs an online store.
“We are still trying to get a handle on our inventory, much of which has sold over the past couple of weeks, but will make every effort to keep the online shop as updated as possible,” Allspicery wrote.
More details on the new owners and team will be released in the “coming weeks.”
The spice retailer also thanked members of the community for their words of support and encouragement for the store’s new chapter.
